Happy Saturday Dolls! I have been on the hunt for a new finishing/setting powder to try out. My favorite is the NYX Mineral “Set it Don’t fret it” Matte finishing powder. I love that powder but I wanted something new and to find one that may potentially become my new favorite. So while on one of my Wally trips (aka Walmart) I happened to notice this powder. I was picking up a foundation and noticed it at the bottom of the shelf. So I decided to try it out and here is what I found…

Packaging

Its a round hard plastic container that looks pretty chic to me. Has touch of gold colored strip around the rim of the container to give it that more “fancy” look. The height on this product is a bit taller than most packaging so it doesn’t make it quite travel friendly to throw in your purse for everyday use. (But that means you get more product!)

Shade

It comes in three shades:

1. light

2.Medium

3. Translucent

Translucent is what I typically go for in any setting powder. It’s pretty universal especially for when I am doing freelance work on clients.

What you get

You get 0.5 oz of product and a little puff pad that sit comfortably inside which is great if your taking this product on the go for touch ups. This powder is so finely milled that it’s super lightweight. You wont even feel that you have powder on your face.  It also has a light fragrance scent but you wont smell it when applied to the face (unless you douse your entire your face in it, then I would suppose you could smell it lol).

Cost

It will cost you between $9 to $12 (+taxes or shipping) depending where you purchase the product from.  I was not able to find it at any of my local drugstore, Target, Ulta or Sephora only Walmart. Click here to purchase on Amazon: L’Oreal Hydra Perfecte Loose Powder

The comparison

I’m going to compare it with my favorite NYX Matte Setting Powder…

1. NYX texture is more grainy vs. L’Oreal is super soft. I find this L’Oreal powder is more similar to the Laura Mercier setting powder (also One of my faves).

2. Price range is the same $9-$12.

3. NYX packaging is almost half the height and like one center meter wider.

4. NYX has only .28oz while L’Oreal has .5oz (You get more product for your money!)

5. NYX has a slight white cast in photos while with L’Oreal, I have not noticed a while cast at all!!!

Overall, I can say YES to this being my new favorite setting powder. 🙂
