Human trafficking, what an unpleasant word. At least for me, that is how I feel. It angers me to know that beautiful young women are stripped away from living a happy and free life. Yes, women are not the only ones. Young boys too. My heart aches for them all. No one should be taken away from their families only to be used up by scums! This is a global issue that needs much attention!

This book by Nita belles really puts it into perspective how serious human trafficking is in America. When I first started learning about it, my first thoughts went straight to the red-light districts in Amsterdam and India. Little did I know that my state was #3 on the list for states with a high rate of  human trafficking. Florida has been my second home for a long time and I never knew this. Our backyards are not as safe as we think.

In this book, several individuals shared their stories of what happened to them while trapped by “pimps”, aka their bosses/owners, and how they managed to escape. It brings awareness how deceiving human traffickers are and how a normal situation can be bad one. It teaches you signs to look for and how you can help. It sheds light on situations that your think are out of the norm but just blow it off because you don’t want to get into other peoples business.

Nita advises that if you are a victim of human trafficking or you see it happening please report it to:

National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline: 1.888.3737.888
or text INFO or HELP to BeFree (233733)
