Reviewing the new re-formulated version of the iconic Dior Forever Foundation. Let’s talk about the wear, smell and should you try it.
I was on a trip to the mall browsing the beauty section for new goodies. I stopped at the Dior counter to pick up my favorite Dior Lip balm when the sales representative encouraged me to try the new Dior Skin Glow Foundation. Really didn’t want to try it but he got me when he said that the Dior Undercover Full Coverage Foundation was being discontinued. I was shocked to learn this as this is one of my favorite full coverage foundations!
A glowy Finish
Figured I would give it a try since one my favorite product won’t be available for too much longer. The representative tested the dewy finish of the new Forever Skin Glow foundation. I tend to only wear matte finish foundations but he said I would love it. He was right! It looked very natural and easy to apply. I was sold and I left the counter with my new foundation. 🙂
The test
Since I am not a huge dewy finish type of girl, I wanted to see how I would like it with and without setting this foundation. I first tried it for a little over 12hrs without using a setting powder. At the end of the night I found that it really broke apart around my nose (t-zone area). Not a fan of foundation doing this. On a different day, I tried it again with setting powder and really loved the finish. It held up a bit better at the end of the day. It has a beautiful finish now matter if you set it or not.
The smell
Scented products are one I tend to stay away from because I am very sensitive to scents. They tend to give me a headache. After trying this foundation a few times, I noticed that the smell lingered longer than I would’ve liked. It has a very moderate Floral scent. On the bottle, it’s marketed as a floral skincare product. When I used it with my Chanel Soleil Bronzer and PUR Banana Powder, the combines scent was too much. So if you are sensitive to scents, you may want to reconsider this one. I even attempted to use it with other unscented products but I just could not get myself to love it.
Conclusion
I retuned the product. I truly tried to make it work. But the scent and the wear not lasting as long as the Forever Undercover version did it for me. I couldn’t keep a product that I did not enjoy using. If scents do not bother you, then I say give it a try! It is very buildable and contains SPF 15. It does have a very beautiful finish. I love Dior, but this one was just not for me.
